The 2018 Ryder Cup is just about 6 months away. The European team will be hosting the USA team at Le Golf National. The European team is shaping well and many feel that they have it in them to lift the Ryder Cup once again.
The qualification process for the European Ryder Cup team started last summer at the Czech Masters. The qualification process will be complete after the Made in Denmark in August. The top four players in the European points list and top four players from the World’s point list will get an automatic qualification to the European Ryder Cup team.
The players have to pull up their socks as points in the events starting from the BMW PGA Championship will carry more weight. It will now be multiplied by 1.5. Thomas Bjorn will also be looking at the wildcard picks for the remaining four spots in the side.
The player who is currently on top of the European points list is Tyrrell Hatton. He had a really good ending to the 2017 European tour season with back to back victories. Justin Rose is in the second spot with wins at the WGC HSBC Champions and the Turkish Airlines Open. The third place is currently with Ross Fisher, after he had three runner-up finishes on the European tour.
Matt Fitzpatrick is currently in the fourth position on the European Points List. John Ram is placed in the second spot in the Worlds Points List and Tommy Fleetwood with his win in the Race to Dubai championship is in the 4th place of the Worlds points list.
The victory to world number 7 Rory McIlroy at the Arnold Palmer Invitational moved him into the automatic qualification spot on the world’s list. The Ryder Cup veteran Sergio Garcia is in the 6th spot after making three top-10 finishes all over the world.
