Matt Kuchar is a professional golfer from the United States of America who currently plays as a member on the US PGA Tour, having previously played on the Nationwide Tour.
Kuchar is a seven time winner on the US PGA Tour with these wins coming in a span of twelve years. He briefly enjoyed a lot of success at the beginning of the millennium before suffering a slump in form that saw him struggle to maintain his status as a US PGA Tour member. Since then, he has become renowned as one of the most consistent performers on the US PGA Tour and has earned close to $ 15 million in prize money as well as recording 30 finishes inside the top 10 between 2009 and 2013. Matt Kuchar was also the winner of the money list on the US PGA Tour in 2010.
The American won The Players Championship title in 2012, the US PGA Tour’s flagship event, which is also the biggest victory of his career so far. This win propelled him to a career high ranking of number five in the world in the Official Golf World Rankings and he has spent over 40 weeks inside the top 10.
In 2013, Matt Kuchar won his very first title on the World Golf Championship with a win at the Accenture Match Play Championship where he defeated compatriot Hunter Mahan in a playoff round. His record in the majors, however, leaves a lot to be desired with his best result coming with a T3 in the 2012 Masters Tournament. He has also won the Vardon Trophy as well as the Byron Nelson Award, both in 2010.
